Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha who suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening , continues to be very critical and is on life support systems, Appollo Hospitals medical bulletin said on Monday.
The chief minister is treated by a team of experts. A team of doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences would land in Chennai later this afternoon, doctors said.
Chief ministers doctor was by her side when the chief minister had a cardiac arrest at 5.15 pm on sunday and she was immediately given cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After that she was put on a life support system that aids the functioning of the hearts and lungs.Hospital sources said there is no bleeding from Ms Jayalalithaa's blood vessels, which doctors see as a positive sign.
A team of four doctors from Delhi's premier AIIMS will arrive in Chennai this evening and their assessment, post the ECMO report, is expected to be included in a medical bulletin at about 8 pm.
