One of the key suspects in the Kanpur train derailment in November has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport here after being deported from Dubai.
Nepal police and Indian agency have arrested Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent Shamshul Hoda, who has links with one of the train blast accused, reported ANI quoting sources.
Confirming the arrest, a senior NIA official on Tuesday described Huda's arrest as a big breakthrough in its investigation into three cases handed over to it recently - the failed attempt to detonate an IED on the tracks in East Champaran as well as the suspected sabotage angle behind Indore-Patna Express train accident in Kanpur and the Koneru train accident. NIA is already in touch with Nepalese authorities and will seek access to Huda for questioning.
"Nepal Police will also work in close coordination with the Indian Police for Hoda's alleged involvement in criminal activities in India," he said.
The three others arrested are identified as Brij Kishor Giri, Ashish Singh and Umesh Kumar Kurmi, all from Kalaiya district in southern Nepal. The police have brought Hoda and three other accused criminals to Nepal from Dubai in coordination with the Interpol, Upadhyaya told PTI.
Hoda is the mastermind of a twin murder in Bara district of Nepal, the police said. During interrogation, the three arrested persons had reportedly provided some "positive lead" about the Indore-Patna Express derailment in Kanpur.According to Bihar police, the three were paid Rs three lakh by a Nepali man who had connections with Hoda.
